Technology has given us the luxury of making things faster and more efficient, but in return we lose the love, care and craftsmanship that goes into making something by hand. Lucky for us, British children’s designer Rachel Riley has taken this philosophy to heart.
Reminiscent to the way Geppetto created his shoes in the movie Pinocchio, each Rachel Riley shoe is painstakingly handcrafted from start to finish. Located in one of the last remaining hand-made slipper factories in France, the butter soft leather is hand cut (by an actual shoemaker) and then sewn together by hand. And because each shoe is custom-made, they’re able to create more widths and sizes to accommodate your little girl’s ever growing feet and newfound love of high-end footwear. – Jill Topol
